This page is part of our public exclusion list — a transparency tool that shows which companies we screen out and why. It is not investment advice, and it is not an accusation. But it is subject to change as our understanding of the facts evolves.

Conflict & War Zones
Since Sep 21, 2025

Cadre Holdings' Safariland subsidiary has $724K in CBP contracts for tear gas deployed against asylum seekers at the US–Mexico border. Safariland products were also deployed at Standing Rock (2016) and Ferguson (2014), and by Israeli police against Palestinians. Cadre announced a 2020 divestiture of its Defense Technology unit that was never completed.

For-Profit Prisons
Since Aug 5, 2024

Cadre Holdings Inc. manufactures and sells safety and security equipment, including body armor, restraints, and tactical gear, under brands like Safariland. The company's products are specifically marketed and sold to law enforcement and correctional agencies, positioning it as a supplier to the prison and detention industrial complex.

While Cadre Holdings does not own or operate detention facilities, its business model is built on supplying equipment to the carceral system. AFSC Investigate lists the company as providing equipment, utilities, and uniforms to prison and jail authorities. This revenue stream is integral to its operations as a public safety equipment provider.

Safariland (Cadre Holdings subsidiary) products are used by Israeli security forces against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Gaza. AFSC directly documents this nexus. The same product line sold to CBP for border use is deployed in occupation-context crowd control.

Companies appear on our exclusion list based on our investment judgment — not because they've done anything illegal. This is a difference of values and opinion, not an accusation of wrongdoing. Exclusion does not constitute a recommendation against investing in any company, and absence from the list does not constitute a recommendation to invest.
