This page is part of our public exclusion list — a transparency tool that shows which companies we screen out and why. It is not investment advice, and it is not an accusation. But it is subject to change as our understanding of the facts evolves.

Military Contracting
Since Nov 13, 2021

Curtiss-Wright Corp. derives a majority of its revenue from the design and manufacture of specialized defense equipment. According to SIPRI data, the company's arms sales constituted approximately 57.4% of its total revenue in 2024, amounting to $1.79 billion. Its products include turret aiming and stabilization systems and weapons handling systems for armored military vehicles, which are purpose-built for warfare.

The company has a long-standing historical link to the defense industry, dating to a namesake entity involved in a landmark 1936 U.S. Supreme Court case concerning arms exports. In a more recent enforcement action, Curtiss-Wright Controls paid $1.35 million in 2014 to resolve allegations it overcharged the U.S. government for military components, violating the Truth in Negotiation Act.

Companies appear on our exclusion list based on our investment judgment — not because they've done anything illegal. This is a difference of values and opinion, not an accusation of wrongdoing. Exclusion does not constitute a recommendation against investing in any company, and absence from the list does not constitute a recommendation to invest.

This information is provided for educational and transparency purposes only and should not be relied upon as investment advice. Data is drawn from independent watchdogs, NGOs, government registries, and Ethical Capital's ongoing research — see Research Sources for the full list.
