G-III Apparel Group manufactures and sells apparel and accessories under licensed and proprietary brands, including leather goods made from exotic animal skins. The company’s product lines include items derived from snakes, lizards, and other reptiles, materials which are inherently linked to the exotic skins trade.
A 2021 PETA Asia investigation into the exotic skins supply chain documented brutal slaughter methods and animal welfare violations specific to snakes and lizards. The investigation traced skins from such operations to tanneries that supply major fashion brands. As a manufacturer and distributor of leather goods using these materials, G-III Apparel is complicit in this supply chain. The company has not published a formal animal welfare policy or traceability system for exotic skins, nor has it committed to phasing out their use.
