Hyatt Hotels Corporation is screened out under 1 exclusion reason spanning 1 issue category.

This page is part of our public exclusion list — a transparency tool that shows which companies we screen out and why. It is not investment advice, and it is not an accusation. It is a statement of values.

Animal Exploitation
Since Oct 14, 2021

Hyatt Hotels Corporation operates captive dolphin facilities at multiple resort properties, most notably at the Hyatt Regency Maui and at hotels in Mexico. These pools confine dolphins for guest entertainment and interactive swimming programs, a practice criticized by animal welfare organizations for exploiting wild animals in artificial environments. The company has faced sustained public protests and campaigns urging it to end these exhibits.

The company's food and beverage operations across its global portfolio of over 1,300 hotels also derive significant revenue from serving meat, dairy, and eggs. While this is common in the hospitality industry, it constitutes commercial exploitation of animals at scale. Hyatt has published statements on human rights and modern slavery but has not issued a group-wide animal welfare policy addressing these core exploitation issues in its entertainment and food service operations.

Companies appear on our exclusion list based on our investment judgment — not because they've done anything illegal. This is a difference of values and opinion, not an accusation of wrongdoing. Exclusion does not constitute a recommendation against investing in any company, and absence from the list does not constitute a recommendation to invest.
