This page is part of our public exclusion list — a transparency tool that shows which companies we screen out and why. It is not investment advice, and it is not an accusation. But it is subject to change as our understanding of the facts evolves.
Integra LifeSciences manufactures regenerative medicine products derived from animal tissues. Its flagship Integra Dermal Regeneration Template uses bovine type I collagen from deep flexor tendon and shark-derived chondroitin-6-sulfate glycosaminoglycans. SurgiMend collagen matrix is derived from fetal and neonatal bovine dermis. The company's 2020 acquisition of ACell added porcine urinary bladder matrix (UBM) products. Over 10 million animal-derived collagen implants have been placed across neurosurgery, reconstructive surgery, and orthopedics. Integra also conducts preclinical animal testing: a pivotal Mayo Clinic study for its NeuraGen 3D Nerve Guide used rat models to demonstrate motor recovery, and porcine wound models validated the dermal regeneration template. Regulatory pathways for these Class II/III medical devices require animal biocompatibility studies under ISO 10993.

The Naughty List
A digest of changes to our exclusion list — new additions, removals, and the evidence behind them. We review the list continuously as new evidence surfaces.
Companies appear on our exclusion list based on our investment judgment — not because they've done anything illegal. This is a difference of values and opinion, not an accusation of wrongdoing. Exclusion does not constitute a recommendation against investing in any company, and absence from the list does not constitute a recommendation to invest.
