Hides, Furs & Exotic Leather

Nordstrom historically derived revenue from the sale of products made with animal fur and exotic skins, a core business line for a major luxury fashion retailer. In 2019, PETA’s investigation into the Russian fur trade documented rabbits, minks, and chinchillas subjected to abuse, implicating supply chains used by retailers like Nordstrom.

The company announced in September 2020 that it would stop selling products made using animal fur or exotic animal skins by the end of 2021. This policy change followed targeted campaigns by animal welfare groups. While this represents a reform, the historical commercial activity in fur and exotic skins qualifies the company for exclusion under this category.
