In February 2024, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued a Notice of Violation and proposed a $9,000 civil penalty against KLX Energy Services, LLC for a Severity Level III violation involving the failure to secure a portable gauge containing radioactive material, which was subsequently stolen from an unlocked company vehicle.
