Lands' End, Inc. is screened out under 1 exclusion reason spanning 1 issue category.
This page is part of our public exclusion list — a transparency tool that shows which companies we screen out and why. It is not investment advice, and it is not an accusation. It is a statement of values.
Lands' End continues to sell apparel and home goods containing wool and down, materials derived from animal exploitation. The company's product lines include merino wool sweaters and down-filled jackets and comforters. While Lands' End has previously banned fur, angora, mohair, and alpaca from its offerings, it has not extended this policy to eliminate wool and down.
Investigations into global supply chains for these materials have documented systemic animal welfare issues. PETA has released exposés of the down industry showing abuse, including footage from 2012 of live geese having their feathers ripped out, a practice known as live plucking. Similarly, wool production is linked to documented suffering in sheep farming. The company markets these materials as traditional or timeless, despite the evidence of harm inherent in their production at scale.

The Naughty List
A digest of changes to our exclusion list — new additions, removals, and the evidence behind them. We review the list continuously as new evidence surfaces.
Companies appear on our exclusion list based on our investment judgment — not because they've done anything illegal. This is a difference of values and opinion, not an accusation of wrongdoing. Exclusion does not constitute a recommendation against investing in any company, and absence from the list does not constitute a recommendation to invest.
