Banking on Climate Chaos 2025: Postal Savings Bank of China provided $1.3 B in fossil fuel financing in 2024 ($10.2 B total 2021–2024; ranked #56)
Postal Savings Bank of China has been subject to multiple regulatory penalties for financial misconduct that harms consumers. In July 2021, the bank was fined 4.49 million yuan for illegally charging customers fees, including imposing annual fees and small account management fees in violation of regulations. That same year, it was separately fined for its role in a bond guarantee scandal involving falsified documentation at Guangfa Bank.
The pattern of violations has continued. In August 2021, the bank was among a group fined a total of 15.41 million yuan for violations related to credit management. More recently, in November 2025, the bank’s Guangdong branch received a warning and was fined approximately 1.74 million yuan for payment settlement violations, with an additional confiscation of illegal gains. These repeated enforcement actions, documented by ViolationTracker, demonstrate a systemic issue with compliance and consumer protection.

The Naughty List
A digest of changes to our exclusion list — new additions, removals, and the evidence behind them. We review the list continuously as new evidence surfaces.
Companies appear on our exclusion list based on our investment judgment — not because they've done anything illegal. This is a difference of values and opinion, not an accusation of wrongdoing. Exclusion does not constitute a recommendation against investing in any company, and absence from the list does not constitute a recommendation to invest.
