Military Contracting
Since Sep 21, 2025

RENK Group AG manufactures specialized military vehicle transmissions and propulsion systems as a core business activity. Its products include the AVDS-1790 series engines and transmissions used in the U.S. Army's Abrams tanks and Bradley Fighting Vehicles. In March 2026, its U.S. subsidiary was awarded a $57 million contract by the U.S. Army for these systems. The company is also a principal contractor for Bradley vehicle maintenance and overhaul programs supporting Ukraine, as designated by the U.S. Department of Defense in July 2025.

The company's defense operations are material and targeted. In August 2025, the German defense contractor publicly threatened to relocate production to the United States to circumvent German restrictions and continue supplying tank parts to Israel. A 2024 study on German arms exports identified RENK as a long-term supplier of transmission spare parts for Israeli Merkava tanks. The company is actively expanding its U.S. defense footprint, with plans announced in 2026 to invest $150 million in Michigan and create up to 270 jobs.

RENK Group AG manufactures and supplies tank transmissions used by the Israeli military in occupied Palestinian territories. According to AFSC Investigate, the company produces transmissions for Israel's Merkava battle tanks. These military vehicles are deployed in the ongoing occupation of the West Bank and have been used in military operations in Gaza.

In February 2026, Germany's Federal Constitutional Court dismissed a Palestinian plaintiff's constitutional complaint, allowing RENK to continue exporting these tank transmissions to Israel. The company's CEO has publicly stated that RENK would consider relocating production to the United States if required to maintain these sales, indicating the materiality of this business line to its operations. By providing essential components for military equipment used to sustain an occupation considered illegal under international law, RENK Group materially supports activities in occupied territories.

Companies appear on our exclusion list based on our investment judgment — not because they've done anything illegal. This is a difference of values and opinion, not an accusation of wrongdoing. Exclusion does not constitute a recommendation against investing in any company, and absence from the list does not constitute a recommendation to invest.
