Regulus Therapeutics Inc. is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company whose core business is the discovery and development of oligonucleotide-based therapeutics. This business model is fundamentally dependent on animal testing to meet regulatory requirements for drug safety and efficacy. The company’s lead product candidate, RGLS8429 for autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD), is currently in clinical trials, which followed extensive preclinical testing in animal models.
