Cartesian Therapeutics, Inc. is a clinical-stage biotechnology company whose primary therapeutic candidates are cell therapies derived from human T-cells. The development of these therapies, including its lead candidate Descartes-08 for autoimmune diseases, inherently requires preclinical animal testing to establish safety and efficacy for regulatory approval. This reliance on animal models is a standard, material component of the biomedical research and development process for cell-based treatments. While some companies in the sector are investing in alternative methods, Cartesian’s current pipeline and development stage indicate animal testing remains an integral part of its business model.
