This page is part of our public exclusion list — a transparency tool that shows which companies we screen out and why. It is not investment advice, and it is not an accusation. But it is subject to change as our understanding of the facts evolves.
SEI Investments has faced multiple regulatory actions across jurisdictions. The SEC ordered SEI Investments Distribution Company to pay a $375,000 civil penalty for recordkeeping and net capital violations (Administrative Proceeding 34-50017). FINRA separately imposed a $150,000 fine on SEI Investments Distribution for reporting deficiencies. The UK Financial Conduct Authority issued a final notice to SEI Investments Europe Ltd for compliance failures. The SEC's 2024-2025 off-channel communications enforcement initiative, which charged approximately 70 firms with combined penalties exceeding $2 billion, targeted the same category of recordkeeping violations that SEI has historically been penalized for. The firm's evidence of repeated regulatory failures across multiple agencies and jurisdictions demonstrates a systemic inability to maintain the compliance infrastructure required under federal securities laws.

The Naughty List
A digest of changes to our exclusion list — new additions, removals, and the evidence behind them. We review the list continuously as new evidence surfaces.
Companies appear on our exclusion list based on our investment judgment — not because they've done anything illegal. This is a difference of values and opinion, not an accusation of wrongdoing. Exclusion does not constitute a recommendation against investing in any company, and absence from the list does not constitute a recommendation to invest.
