Tower Semiconductor is a specialized foundry that manufactures analog and mixed-signal semiconductors. Its products include radio frequency switches, image sensors, and power management integrated circuits. While these are dual-use components, the company has developed specialized products and marketing targeting military customers, and it maintains direct contractual relationships with major defense contractors and the U.S. Department of Defense.
In March 2011, Tower Semiconductor (then TowerJazz) signed a contract with the U.S. Army RDECOM CERDEC NVESD to develop advanced imaging technology. More recently, in March 2024, the company was awarded a supplier excellence award by Northrop Grumman, a leading global aerospace and defense technology company, for its role in aiding manufacturing and distribution goals. The company is also listed among defense contractors reviewed by the Pentagon in public reporting. This pattern of direct contracts and recognition indicates its products are integrated into defense systems, moving beyond the sale of incidental, commodity components.
