This page is part of our public exclusion list — a transparency tool that shows which companies we screen out and why. It is not investment advice, and it is not an accusation. But it is subject to change as our understanding of the facts evolves.
Volvo Group (OMX: VOLV-A) is documented by AFSC Investigate, Who Profits, and the UN OHCHR settlement enterprise database for its equipment's role in Israeli occupation activities. Volvo construction machinery has been used in demolitions of Palestinian homes, construction of illegal settlements (Har Gilo, Barkan Industrial Zone), the Separation Wall near Al-Walaja, the Huwwara checkpoint, and Route 443 in the West Bank. The company's subsidiary Merkavim Transportation Technologies (26.5% Volvo-owned) supplies armored buses serving settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. A Who Profits report documents Volvo buses used as mobile interrogation rooms by Israel's General Security Services. UN OHCHR lists companies supplying equipment facilitating settlement construction under HRC Resolution 31/36.
Volvo Group manufactures heavy trucks and diesel engines. The EPA reached a settlement with Volvo over diesel engine emissions violations, and the company's Hagerstown facility is associated with a Superfund contamination site.

The Naughty List
A digest of changes to our exclusion list — new additions, removals, and the evidence behind them. We review the list continuously as new evidence surfaces.
Companies appear on our exclusion list based on our investment judgment — not because they've done anything illegal. This is a difference of values and opinion, not an accusation of wrongdoing. Exclusion does not constitute a recommendation against investing in any company, and absence from the list does not constitute a recommendation to invest.
